Improvement of Access on the Port Rambla of Montevideo, UY

Improvement of Access on the Port Rambla of Montevideo, UY

The construction period is 27 months. The tasks began in June 2019 and are scheduled to be completed in the second half of 2021.

The deadline includes the initial six months of the executive project and preliminary tasks for diverting interference from collectors and 150 KV electrical cables and carrying out searches for soil studies.

During the first months of work, the searches were carried out on a night shift so as not to hinder traffic in the area. Around the end of November, after having diverted all the interferences (the collectors and the 150 KV electrical cables), the entire promenade was completely cut to immediately begin the piling works.

In parallel, in September 2019, the filling of the bay began, which will allow generating northern access for trucks to enter the port.

The project is made up of two access ramps each 200 meters long, a 1,800-meter-long viaduct 8 meters high supported by concrete piers and a 160-meter-long arch bridge located adjacent to the esplanade of the Central Station.

The viaduct will have three lanes in each direction with a width of 24 meters in total; Currently the boulevard has 2 lanes in each direction.

With the works in the esplanade area, the port gains more than 5 hectares. Also, part of the promenade will become a port area, allowing new internal circulation to be generated.

The project includes general lighting of the entire work.
