Derivación and Punta Lomitas electrical substations

Derivación and Punta Lomitas electrical substations

The Saceem – Siemens Energy consortium was selected by the French company ENGIE for the design, supply, construction (civil and electromechanical assembly), testing and commissioning of two new electrical substations for the Punta Lomitas project, the largest wind farm in Peru at date.

The new Punta Lomitas wind farm has 260 MW of capacity and includes the construction of two substations that are located in the districts of Ocucaje and Santiago, province of Ica, Ica Region. The Derivación substation is 370 KM from the city of Lima and Punta Lomitas is 418 KM. Derivation has 220 kV installations and is built with air-insulated equipment (AIS) to connect the project's new transmission line (outside the scope of these specifications) and the existing line L-2211 Ica – Marcona.

The consortium is responsible for the supplies, materials, design and tests required for the connection of the Derivación substation with the existing Ica – Marcona line. Meanwhile, the second to be executed, Punta Lomitas, has 33 kV and 220 kV facilities insulated by SF6 gas (GIS) to evacuate the energy produced by the wind project to the National Interconnected Electrical System (SEIN).

In addition, Saceem – Siemens Energy carried out the connection of the Derivación substation to the interconnected system through the adaptation work of the L-2211 Ica – Derivación line.
